Who are Bio Beats?
Bio Beats are a small team involved in the world of mental health tech. TLP were hired to come to their office and set up a studio to shoot some really colourful and lively portraits.
It’s hard to categorise what we do. The phrase ‘corporate photography’ immediately triggers images of terrible work photos that make people cringe. What’s more, plenty of our clients aren’t ‘corporate’ at all! The important thing we try to convey to our clients is that regardless of how corporate their company is, there’s never a reason to dull down their staff headshots or to stick to the stale version of headshot photography we all know. There is always possibility to make things smarter, more stylish, more relaxed, more consistent and more impressive.
Who chose the style of these staff portraits?
Bio Beats knew they wanted something positive and bright to suit the nature of their work. It would be a huge shame not to get a bit colourful for a tech company. We helped them choose a backdrop that suited their brand colours and also matched the feel of similar tech start ups in their industry. Although we can set up our little studio in some very tight places, they assured us they had enough space to put up a wide backdrop (7.5 ft). This enabled us to photograph full-length portraits of the staff and also some group shots. A lot of our shoots only have enough space to shoot from the waist up so it was really fun to have to get this added room for even more creativity and personality.
How do you make sure their clothes match the backdrop?
This is definitely easier with smaller companies. We agreed on the backdrop colour a week before our shoot which gave us time to offer some guidelines. Although the staff could definitely have gone with some corresponding colours (rather than matching), they nailed it when keeping things simple, consistent and stylish. We will always put in a recommendation of colours people should wear depending on the backdrop, and with as much time as possible for staff prepare.
Can staff members use these outside of their company website?
Absolutely! So many people have multiple vocational projects on the go and it makes us very happy to see our images used far and wide. Not only do our clients get to have the best corporate photographers in London smarten up their website imagery, the staff can also use these their headshots for exterior uses such as Linkedin, IG, Tik Tok, public speaking, podcasts and any other businesses they are involved in.
